God and Caesar?

If you want to understand the true relationship between politics and religion, probably the best place to start is with one of the most famous things Jesus ever said: “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.” The religious leaders asked Him a question that related to public policy. If they could not trap Him in religion, maybe they could get Him with politics. Was it or was it not lawful to pay tribute to Caesar? These men must have thought they finally had Jesus right where they wanted Him. Yet this leaves us with two evident and overarching questions: Which things belong to Caesar, and which things belong to God?
