Have you ever encountered two people who just can't stand each other? In our text today, we see how the Sanhedrin was deeply split between the Pharisees and Sadducees, two groups with little in common. They rarely found any common ground, except for one thing: their intense hatred of Jesus. United by this singular purpose, they set aside their differences and, with a singular focus, brought Jesus before the one judge who could carry out their desired verdict—death.
