In the Potter’s Hand

It was time for Jeremiah to take another field trip. God had already taken him up and down the streets of Jerusalem and to the River Euphrates. This time, He wanted to take him to a pottery workshop. To fully understand this, we must preface it by pointing out that Jeremiah, the prophet, had a lesson to learn. In the chapters that follow, we find that Jeremiah is faithful and obedient to all that God has commanded him. Then one day, Jeremiah has had enough, and he gets discouraged. It was then, in his discouragement, that God sent Jeremiah on the field trip to the potter’s house. Jeremiah had a lesson to learn about God’s patient love and forbearance with His people. A lesson for Jeremiah, God’s people, and for all of us here today.
