Men and Women at Prayer

Jan 18, 2026

If the question “How is your prayer life?” was asked, most of us would answer carefully. We might say it could be better, or avoid the question altogether. Prayer is one area where we can look active on the outside while being unhealthy on the inside. We can pray while angry, bitter, proud, or distracted. That is why Scripture never treats prayer as neutral. When Paul addresses prayer in 1 Timothy 2, he does not focus on technique but on the heart. Prayer rises from the soul, and when it is weak or hollow, the problem is not that God has moved, but that something within us needs attention. This passage calls us to examine our hearts and come before God rightly, humbly, and honestly.
